Privacy and security

Where does GrabClip store my settings and history?

Settings, history, the saved queue and cookies are stored in %APPDATA%\GrabClip. Downloaded files go to the output folder you choose in Settings.

Why does Windows show a security warning?

The current installer is not signed with a paid Windows code-signing certificate, so SmartScreen may show a warning. Download only from the official GitHub release and compare the SHA-256 hash first. Read more.

Why does my antivirus flag the installer?

Some security programs flag installers that bundle tools such as yt-dlp and FFmpeg. Check the SHA-256 hash against the official release, and look into any detection you cannot explain before you run the file.

Troubleshooting

A website used to work but no longer downloads. What should I try?

Open Settings, then Updates, then Update yt-dlp. This fixes many website problems without a new version of GrabClip. If it still fails, report it with the error details, and never attach your cookies file.

Why is my download slow?

Turn on Fast download in the last step of Add download. Speed also depends on your network and on the source website. Check that Study mode and the Night scheduler speed limit are off.

Why does Send to phone fail?

Your PC and phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Allow GrabClip in the Windows Firewall prompt if Windows asks, and start sharing again if ten minutes have passed.

How do I uninstall GrabClip?

Open Windows Settings, then Apps, and uninstall GrabClip. Your downloaded videos are never touched.
